(Customers within Canada ONLY)
Event Date - The day you want to wear your outfit
Receipt Date - Approximately 2 days before your event
Rental Period - 7 days or 14 days
Return Date - By the last day of your rental period, please fold the outfit and place into the return envelope that was provided with the pre-paid label. By the last day have it delivered to your nearest courier company ready to ship back to Dress To Empress.
Rental Fee - The total price you'll pay to keep the outfit for the entire rental period (from receipt date to return date)
Retail Price - The retail value of the rental outfit if you were to buy it.
Wear And Tear - Regular damage to an outfit one would expect with a wear – a sequin or two falling off for example
Substantial Damage - Significant damage above and beyond regular wear and tear – so this could be significant stains and burns that cannot be removed.
Major Loss - The kind of damage that means we can no longer rent the outfit out and will need to replace it – like a large burn mark or stain which cannot be removed. If the outfit is lost while in possession of the individual renting the outfit this will also be considered a Major Loss.
Late Fee - If the outfit is not sent to your nearest courier company by the end of your rental period we shall charge you a late fee of $30 per day for 5 days at which point you will be charged the full retail value of the outfit.
What if I accidentally stain or damage the dress?
We trust that you will treat these gorgeous outfits with the utmost care as if they were your own. We understand that routine wear and tear is unavoidable. However if we find 'substantial damage' to the outfit or a stain that cannot be removed through our standard dry cleaning process we will ship the outfit back for yours to keep given that we can no longer rent the outfit out, and charge the remainder of the cost equaling up to the retail value of the outfit. Additional shipping charges may apply.
Example: If a rental outfit fee was $99 and the retail value was $250. We would charge a remainder of $150 equaling the total retail price and will ship the outfit for yours to keep.
Do I need to iron my outfit when it arrives?
Your outfit is professionally cleaned and ironed before it is sent to you so you shouldn't need to iron it. If you do find there are a few wrinkles in it, please steam the garment at low heat or hang it to shake the wrinkles out. Please do not iron at high heat as this will damage the outfit.
How do you clean the outfit before it arrives?
We work with professional dry cleaners to ensure every outfit is clean before it reaches you. We follow a thorough procedure at every stage of the dry-cleaning process before it is ready to be delivered.
How do I make payment?
Once you're ready to check out you will be redirected to a secure payment gateway page. Here, you'll need to enter your credit card information and it will process your payment for immediate charge. We accept Visa, MasterCard and AMEX. If you are having any trouble with your payment being processed, let us know at email@example.com and we will assist you.
Can I pay in cash?
We accept cash deposits currently for customers living in or near the Greater Toronto Area.
An appointment must be pre-booked to schedule a time to pick up the outfit in person and secure the deposit. Appointments can be booked by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org
A rental agreement is reviewed and must be signed by the individual renting the outfit along with a deposit. A proportion of the deposit is then returned upon drop-off of the rental outfit once the rental period is completed. If there is ‘substantial damage’ the deposit will not be returned and the customer can keep the outfit.
What’s the best way to find the perfect outfit?
Renting with Dress To Empress has been designed to make it user-friendly to find your perfect outfit. We have created specific tabs on our home page for you to find the exact style of any type of South Asian outfit. The search filters can also help you narrow down the options to narrow down your choices by price or even colour!
How do I make sure I’m getting the right size?
To avoid finding outfits that do not fit, we have added detailed measurements available for every single outfit on our website. Simply read the description section that lists the measurements when looking at a specific outfit, pull out your measuring tape and start comparing those numbers. This will help you determine if this is the outfit and size for you.

What if the outfit still does not fit me?
Not to worry! send us an email on the same day you receive the outfit at firstname.lastname@example.org to notify us that the outfit did not fit. The following day please fold the outfit and place it back in the envelope with pre-paid label and drop it off to the nearest courier company. Once we receive the outfit you will be given a store credit for your rental fee to use for future purchases (not including taxes and delivery fee). Please note, if the package is not dropped off at the courier by the following day, then a store credit will not be gifted.
How long do I keep the outfit for?
The outfit you've chosen will reach you approximately 2 days before your ‘rental period start date’ and you'll need to have it dropped off at your nearest courier on the final (7th or 14th) day of your rental period.
What if I need the outfit for more than 14 days?
We understand there are occasions for which you may need the outfit for more than the 14 day rental period. If this is your case, simply send us an email at email@example.com and we will do our best to help you out and figure out a special arrangement and rental fee just for you.
We can’t make promises as the same outfit may be pre-booked for the same requested period by another customer.
What if I want to rent the outfit less than the standard 7 day rental period?
We do not rent outfits for less than 7 days. All rentals will be rented for the 7 day standard rental period.
What if I change my mind after making the booking? Can I cancel?
If you decide you would like to cancel the rental booking within 24 hours of placing your order, simply send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org within 24 hours and if we haven't already shipped your order we will provide a refund for the entire rental fee including taxes and shipping.
What if it's been more than 24 hours since placing the order? It's as simple as the following options:
- If you email us to cancel your order 30 days or more before the scheduled delivery date – we will provide a full refund of the entire rental fee including taxes and shipping.
- If you email us to cancel your order between 10-30 days before the scheduled delivery date – we'll issue you a store credit for your rental fee to use for future purchases at dresstoempress.ca (not including taxes and shipping)
- If you email us to cancel your order 10 days or less before the scheduled delivery date – unfortunately we will not be able to refund any of your rental charge at this point.
What if I want to change the dates for my order?
We will not be able to guarantee your outfit will be available at the new rental period requested but if you send us an email at email@example.com we will see what we can do to help you out.
How do I return my outfit?
In great condition and on time of course ;) On a serious note, your outfit will either come in a box or an envelope. Either way, there will be an additional envelope inside this package with a prepaid label for you to simply fold and insert the outfit into when you are done. Then head on over to your nearest courier location and drop the package off to them to have it ready to be shipped back to us. Please ensure the box or envelope is sealed properly!
